Gyro Drop: Is It Fake?

amusement park

Familiar with the name Gyro Drop popping up on your social media recently? Then you're in for some news.

Ever since last week, the Gyro Drop ride video has been going viral in almost all social platforms and with good reason.

Just watching the video makes you excited and terrified in the best way possible.

If you're wondering what I'm talking about, then let me explain.

Gyro Drop is one of the main rides in Lotte World, one of the biggest amusement parks in South Korea.

Over the week, a video of the ride has been shared causing netizens to lose their minds over how terrifying it looked.

Haven't seen the video yet? Check it out below! (sadly, video has been taken down by YouTube user)

Looks scary, doesn't it?

As it turns out, the hyped up video is a fake one that has been doctored by an unidentifiable source.

The original ride is a 230-foot tower that has a rotating gondola with individual seats in them.

The seats do go up along the stretched tower and rotate fast to give you the illusion of flying away.

However, unlike the video, the actual ride doesn't have seats that drop while being attached to a bungee rope nor does it real back up to the gondola.

Apparently, that part is done with the help of really good CGI editing.

We have to admit that it was a really convincingly edited video.

None the less, rest assured that the 4 seconds of heart-stopping free fall at the end of the video is the real deal.

That part of the ride is definitely going to give you the surge of adrenaline that will last well after the ride ends.

Interestingly the real ride also comes with virtual reality goggles as well!

This is to give an illusion of dropping in another reality.

Even though we're not sure who the creator of the video is, we have got to know from CNN Travel that the video was initially posted on Instagram by users @Mewcg and @wonwoobabie.

Sorry to be a party pooper but the ride in viral video is just a fake one but I have some other great recommendations that are interesting and scream-inducing.

Top 5 Best Rides In South Korea

5) Atlantis Adventure at Lotte World

Running on a course that is 20m above ground or should we say water, the Atlantis Adventure is the tames roller coaster ride on our list.

With the initial starts of 75km/h it starts off slow making you expect impatiently at what is yet to come.

As the ride reaches full speed, it enters the main castle that is part of the ride where it goes up at an 85-degree angle.

The senses are heightened even more by the fact that the castle is fully enclosed.

4) French Revolution2 VR at Lotte World

Unlike the other rides so far, the French Revolution2 VR is an indoor ride.

That, however, doesn't lessen the fun.

With quick turns and tunnels throughout the ride also includes virtual reality goggles!

The VR is also done in a way that matches the speed, ups and downs, as well as turns of the moving train making the experience a memorable one.

With so many loops that make a 360-degree turn, you'll be thankful for the harness that goes over your shoulders.

3) Rolling X-train at Everland

With super fast trains that make 2 complete 360-degree loops, the Rolling X-train is one ride that will make any adrenaline junkie happy.

The coaster might start off slow in the beginning but it picks up full speed very soon.

The coaster takes a steep fall and rises with the speed of 70.8 km/h that can make you feel like you're about to fly off the seats!

A ride not to be missed.

2) Gyro swing at Lotte World

By far one of the most intense rides, the Gyro Swing not only goes from left to right but the gondola rotates as well!

The gondola is designed with circular chairs all around that turns as it swings.

The motion starts with pendulum movement then picks up the pace while rotating.

The swing can reach more than 180 degrees!

1) T Express at Everland

Introducing you to a tamer pace, in the beginning, the T Express at Everland catches you off guard by going through a steep main drop.

The slopes go down at a 77-degree angle (which is about 16-stories) with speed up to 104 km/h.

With so many up the hill movements and steep drops, you'll bare have time to catch your breath.

Just thinking about it makes my stomach turn!
