TteokBokki is one of the most favorite delicacies of Korean people and is also one of the most popular food in Korea. There is even a TteoBokki Town in Korea! This entire town is dedicated to Tteokbokki only! This town is called the Sindang-dong Tteokbokki Town!
1. Tteokbokki Town 떡볶이 타운
The tteokbokki town is located in Sindand-dong (신당동) and it is the most well-known (유명) place to get tteokbokki (떡볶이) in the city. They have already hosted a few special (특별한) events such as the Tteokbokki Festival (떡볶이 축제) and the Tteokbokki contest (떡볶이 경기) which made them even more well-known to this day.
2. Origin 유래
The Sindang-dong Tteokbokki Town (신당동 떡볶이 타운) had already exist ever since the 1970s but was not well known only until the 1980s. This place had marked the prime time of baseball (야구) students who were in high school as it is always crowded (붐비는) on days when Duksoo Commercial High School (덕수상업고등학교) and Sunrin Commercial High School (선린상업고등학교) are playing against each other.
3. Maboklim TTeokbokki 마복림 떡볶이
Maboklim TTeokbokki is one of the most famous eateries among in the Tteokbokki Town. This restaurant has been serving tteokbokki ever since year 1953. Their most famous dish is the tteokbokki stew (떡볶이 찌개) and has also been promoted (홍보되다) on television for a few times now. They are known for using domestic ingredients (국내 재료) to make their dishes.
4. I Love Sindang-dong 아이 러브 신당동
I love Sindang-dong is also another tteokbokki restaurant that serves traditional tteokbokki which is very famous in the Tteokbokki Town. It has opened since year 2001 a history of over 25 years and has a DJ who plays music (음악) and tells stories (이야기) to customers in the restaurant.
5. Samdae Halmeonnae 삼대 할먼네
This restaurant has a 50-year-long history (역사) and is also another famous eatery in the Tteokbokki Town. It is very easy to find as it is a big (큰) restaurant The famous (유명한) tteokbokki dishes (요리) in this place is their jjajang tteokbokki (짜장 떡볶이) and seafood tteokbokki (해물 떡볶이). They also have extremely delicious chicken feet (닭발), but it may be spicy.
