A telltale sign of any halal restaurant in South Korea is their halal logo.

The logo is displayed both inside the shop as well as outside near the entrance.

The halal certification is provided by Korea Halal Authority.

How does the logo look like?

When in South Korea, you can come across this logo in all halal restaurants.

You will also find logos indicating that an establishment offers Muslim friendly options as well.

What do they mean by Muslim friendly?

There are plenty of South Korean restaurants who refer to themselves as Muslim friendly.

What they mean by this is either the establishment is pork-free or they offer dishes that are halal.

However, do note that the restaurants might be serving alcohol even though they are not adding any alcohol to their dishes so dine at your own discretion.

Which areas have a big Muslim community?

With over 100,000 Muslims living in South Korea, most of the community is concentrated in Seoul which is why you can see a lot of halal and Muslim owned restaurants around Itaewon.

Halal Food Options In South Korea.

Seoul

Eid

Easily one of the most popular halal spaces in Seoul, Eid serves quintessential Korean food with the most authentic taste.

Their menu includes usuals like be Beef Bulgogi, Bibimbap, Grilled Fish and Samgyetan as well as some other unique items but you'll have to preorder them at least a day in advance.

Hajj Korean Halal Food

A couple of shops down Eid, this is one spot that serves the best Korean comfort food.

Hajj Korean Halal Food is owned by a Korean Muslim revert, Madam Mariam who never fails to wow the customers with amazing dishes like braised spicy chicken, spicy chicken stew, Beef Bulgogi, Seafood Pancake, tofu stew and many more.

A must try when you're in Seoul.

Busan

Jagalchi Market

One of the largest seafood markets around, Jagalchi Market offers endless for most things under the sea.

Make a stop at any of the restaurants here and get a taste of South Korea's freshest catch of the day.

You can even opt to go to OASE Seafood Buffet restaurant, which is located on the fifth floor of the market and try their king crab dishes.

Jack and the Beanstalk Vegan Cafe

If you prefer a meal that is lighter and fresher then Jack and the Beanstalk is the spot for you.

They offer their own twist to the classics like Bimbimbap and burgers making them great fusion Korean meals.

Best of all Jack and the Beanstalk is a vegan cafe.

Despite not having a halal certification, you can still enjoy their meals knowing that there is no meat or animal byproducts in your meal.

Jeju Island

Bada Punggyeong

Showcasing Jeju Island's amazing seafood, Bada Punggyeong offers a wide selection of delicious dishes with abalone, mackerel and cutlass fish that will surely tantalise your tastebuds.

Rest assure that the Bada Punggyeong only sells seafood making them a great halal option.

A great place when you want dinner with a view.

Uribong Sikdang

If you want fresh seafood at a reasonable price, Uribong Sikdang is a great option for you.

Another great halal restaurant that you mustn't miss if you are in Jeju Island.
