uBitto runs a fully managed interpretation service — curated, vetted interpreters for Korean, English, Malay & Chinese, with a coordinator behind every booking. This guide has two sides: one for interpreters who want to work with us, and one for businesses that want to book us.

Overview

Let me tell you what we actually do here, because it's often misunderstood. uBitto is not a directory where you scroll through freelancers and hope for the best. We are a managed service: we recruit and vet the interpreters ourselves, we match the right person to your event, and we stay involved from the first enquiry to the moment the last session wraps. When something goes wrong on the day — and at live events, something always tries to — there is a coordinator whose job is to make it invisible to you.

That approach has made us the #1 largest Korean–English interpreter network in Malaysia, with 200+ vetted interpreters and a 9.8/10 client satisfaction score across 50+ events.

For interpreters — join the network

If you interpret between Korean, English, Malay, or Chinese, I'd genuinely love to have you on the roster. Most of our interpreters come from uBitto's own Learning Partner community — people who already teach or work in language professionally — but you don't have to be a teacher to join. What matters is that you're good, reliable, and ready to represent uBitto in front of a client.

Joining is a real application, not an instant sign-up. Here's exactly how it works:

  1. Submit your Expert Profile. This is your application to join. Create your Expert Profile → Tell us your language pairs, your specialisations (medical, technical, legal, business, and so on), and your experience. Be specific — "5 years of technical interpretation for manufacturing" tells us far more than "experienced interpreter."
  2. Get vetted. We review your profile and, where relevant, your language pairs in practice. This step protects everyone: it's why clients trust us, and it's why an assignment with your name on it is worth accepting.
  3. Go on the roster. Once you're approved, you become eligible to be matched to events that fit your profile. You're not obligated to accept everything — you take the assignments that suit your schedule and expertise.
Tip. The more precise your specialisations, the better we can match you — and specialist assignments (medical, semiconductor, legal) usually pay more than general ones. Don't undersell your niche.

For interpreters — how you work

Here's the promise I make to every interpreter who joins: your job is to interpret brilliantly. Everything around that — the chasing, the scheduling, the "where do I park," the last-minute change of plans — is our job. We built the managed model precisely so you never have to be your own agent, coordinator, and crisis manager all at once.

What this means for you. You walk in prepared, you're supported through the day, and if you fall ill the night before, there's a plan — you're never the single point of failure carrying a client's whole event on your shoulders.

For interpreters — getting paid

You're paid per completed assignment. Rates depend on the language pair, the format (on-site or remote), the duration, and the specialisation — and we confirm the rate with you before you accept a job, never after. No surprises, no haggling on the day.

To get started, submit your Expert Profile. Once you're on the roster, the rate is shared with each assignment offer, so you can decide with full information every time.

Note. Specialist and multi-day assignments generally command higher rates. Keeping your availability and specialisations up to date in your profile is the simplest way to be first in line for the assignments worth the most.

For clients — why managed, not freelancers

I'll be honest about the trade-off you're weighing, because you're right to weigh it. Booking a freelancer directly can look cheaper on paper. But an interpreter isn't a commodity you're buying — they're a person your entire event depends on for a few critical hours. When you book direct, you're also silently taking on every risk that a managed service would have absorbed for you.

  1. Share your needs. Tell us your event, languages, dates, and format. We scope it within 24 hours, so you're not left waiting to plan the rest of your programme.
  2. We match interpreters. We select interpreters from the curated network based on your industry, language pair, and event type — the right specialist, not just an available body.
  3. Managed scheduling. We handle briefing, scheduling, travel coordination, and — importantly — backup arrangements, so the plan is resilient before anyone arrives.
  4. Smooth event delivery. A dedicated coordinator provides on-the-day management, real-time support, and quality monitoring. If something shifts, we adapt so you don't have to.
The earlier you tell us, the better we match. Short-notice bookings are absolutely possible, but a little lead time lets us line up the ideal specialist and a strong backup rather than the best of who's free.
