Feel like you can relate to the girl in the thumbnail? Well, that makes the both of us! Since watching K-Dramas is almost like an everyday routine, there must be something that we've learned from them and it's obviously these catchy phrases. Here are some of the best phrases in the K-Drama vocabulary!
1. 뻥치지마 (ppeong-chi-ji-ma)
This word basically means “Don’t lie”. It is mostly used as slang and is derived from the polite expression, jimaseyo (지마세요) which means “do not”.
2. 죽을래? (jug-eul-lae?)
This phrase means “Do you want to die?” and is usually used amongst siblings and close friends when the other person is being annoying. However, it does not decrease the hilarity of the moment.
3. 삼각관계 (sam-gak-gwan-gye)
This means Love Triangle, which is something that every K-Drama never fails to have!
4. 장난해? (jang-nan-hae?)
This phrase is similar to the English phrase “are you kidding me?” and could be a statement or a sarcastic question. This is often used among friends of the same age or to someone younger. In Korean dramas, you’ll never hear this being said to someone older or someone of a higher position than the speaker unless the person wants to be rude.
5. 혹시 (hok-shi)
The word 혹시 (hokshi) means ‘by any chance’ or ‘maybe. This word is used at the beginning of a statement or a question where a person is having doubts about a particular thing.
6. 어쩔 건데? (eo-jjeol geon-de?)
This means “what are you going to do?”. Again, this phrase is only used towards a person who is really close to you or someone of your age and to a person younger than you. It’s rude and impolite when used to a stranger and to an older person.
