Our Korean teacher, Yoon Ssam organized a movie outing for all of his Korean class students on the 10th August 2019 at TGV Paragon, Penang.
A total of 21 people joined along for the movie adventure.
The movie was not only open for all the students in his class but outsiders were allowed to join in the fun too!
Some of his Korean class students took this chance and brought their friends along!
Yoon Ssam did not just pick any random movie for them to watch but he picked a new Korean movie, The Divine Fury that was released on 31st July 2019.
The Divine Fury is a South Korean action horror film written and directed by Joo-hwan Kim.
The movie stars prominent South Korean actors such as Park Seo-joon, Ahn Sung-ki and Woo Do-hwan.
The Divine Fury tells a tale of Yong-hoo [Park Seo-joon], a champion in martial arts who attained divine powers to fight against a powerful evil force.
Yong-hoo harbored a deep bitterness and fury towards the Almighty due to his traumatic childhood experience, the death of his parents.
He then channeled all his anger to become a top MMA fighter.
After a bout in the United States, he developed a stigmata, which compelled him to seek the help of Father Ahn [Ahn Sung-ki ].
The priest, who is also an exorcist sees potential in Yong-hoo after he defeated a demon.
The two then partnered to strife demonic activity in Korea.
Yoon Ssam picked a Korean movie specifically to help his students learn and experience the Korean language outside their regular class lessons.
The students got to train their listening skills as they watched the actors converse in Korean language.
Yoon Ssam also encouraged the students to not only listen to understand the movie but to pay attention to the natural tones and intonation of the Korean actors.
Besides all the language benefits, Yoon Ssam wants to build an environment of unity and fellowship among students and also among the students and himself.
In the past, Yoon Ssam has also organized movie outing trips.
His students and he have watched movies such as Train to Busan (2016), The Battleship Island (2017), The Rampant (2018).
