Avengers Endgame: A Snapping Success In Korea

Avengers Endgame: success in Korea

From The United States to Korea to Greenwich, The Avengers Endgame is all people have been talking about the last couple of weeks.

With complex storylines and engaging characters, it’s no wonder that it has a strong fan base all over the world.

Before anything else, let us assure you that this blog post is free from any and all spoilers.

After all, Thanos demands your silence.

The Avengers have been a Marvel Cinematic Universe legacy and the Endgame marks its finale.

Over the span of 22 movies, the creators have given us an experience that transcends language and cultural barriers.

For some of you, over the last decade, these characters have been a big part of your life.

Which is why it's no surprise that fans go to extream lengths to ride the Endgame wave.

Just this week there was a soldier from the Republic of Korea Air Force who went absent without leave from the base he was stationed just so he can catch the blockbuster movie for himself.

It was reported by the Wow tvthat the soldiers were due to leave their base for public service duty earlier this week.

Korean officials set out to look for the trooper after realising that the soldier was missing.

It's safe to say that they caught up with the soldier as he was leaving the theatre after watching the Avengers Endgame.

Seems like a drastic measure but honestly, we don't blame him.

Avengers Endgame, as expected, has turned out to be a huge phenomenon.

Who would have thought that an indie film 11 years ago called Iron Man would have been a beginning of a saga.

From his first press tour for Iron Man 1 in 2008 to his current Avengers Endgame Fan Event in South Korea, actor Robert Downy Jr has never been shy in showing his love for his Korean fans.

On more than one occasion the actor who plays the genius, billionaire, playboy philanthropist is known to talk about how the overwhelming response for these films has been an eye-opening experience as an overall.

Witnessing the Korean audiences' positive reception to the film franchise as a whole, it's not hard to see that these films are able to cater to the international market easily and effectively.

From greeting the actor at the airport to being the beating pulse during press tours, the Korean fans have shown their admiration and dedication for the movies with such warmth and love and it clearly shows from the way Robert Downy Jr talks about them.

The enthusiastic affection that the Korean fans show is overwhelming and rightfully so.

From the first Iron Man movie to the Avengers Endgame, making you feel like you are part of the universe is what Marvel does best.

Did you know that South Korea is the 5th largest box office market for Avengers Endgame in terms of revenue?

Based on the Korean Film Council, 83.3 % of all movie seats nationwide were for showing the Endgame.

More than 1 million viewers have garnered the cinemas in just 4.5 hours.

A staggering momentum that still continued the first 6 days of the movie's release.

However, due to the overwhelming hype that surrounds Avengers Endgame, there were some reasonable concerns around it.

The huge dominance of Endgame over South Korean Box Office, is seen unfair to local Korean produced films as well as indie films.

Hence the South Korean lawmakers proposed on capping the showtime of the movie to slightly even the playing fields.

Despite having regulations that require South Korean cinemas to screen Korean movies at least 73 days out of the year, many still express concern that it's clearly not enough to stop a movie like Avengers Endgame from coming in and dominating the market.

All said and done, the authorities are still in discussion to find a reasonable solution to the issue at hand. Learn more about the issue here.

In spite of these issues, Avengers Endgame is still a fan favourite so far.

From laser beams and infinity stones to emotional scenes that stay with you even after the movie has ended, it’s easy to see why everyone is going out of their ways to see the film.
